This post is all about the must-do classes on the Yoga Barn Schedule Ubud.
General Information about the Yoga Barn:
The Yoga Barn is a very well-known yoga and wellness complex in the heart of Ubud. It offers group and individual yoga and meditation classes, the KUSH spa, the Garden Kafe, a variety of therapies and wellness activities and special evening events.
It is a magical oasis next to the river and surrounded in jungle, it is very hard to believe that you are a stone throw from the centre of Ubud.
How to get to the yoga barn?
The Yoga barn is at the bottom of town and can be accessed from two different roads. There is the main entrance on Jl. Sukma Kesuma. If you are driving, or get a taxi/ Grab, you will need/ they will most likely take you to this entrance as there is a car park.
However, if you are walking from the main part of town, you can use the shortcut on Jl. Raya Pengosekan. Go to the Coco Supermarket and then continue down the road, past Pison. Once you get to Yamara Cottages, you will see that there is a small alley between Yamara Cottages and Siam Sally. Head down this alleyway, past Ubud Aura Retreat Centre and you will enter the Yoga Barn. If walking, this route saves you so much time!
Yoga Barn Prices:
To take part in classes and events at the Yoga Barn, you must register at reception. You can pay 150k for a single drop-in session or you can buy a package using a class card. The class cards are valid for different amounts of time, depending on what you signed up for, but they can save some money if you are planning to do multiple classes during your time in Ubud.
The class card prices include:
- 3 classes = 420k
- 5 classes = 675k
- 10 classes = 1,300k
- 20 classes = 1,900k
- They also offer an unlimited 30-day pass for 2,600k.
Be careful: There are some classes and night events which aren’t covered in the class cost, and you must pay extra. So, plan out what you want to do from the Yoga Barn schedule Ubud, before you purchase the cards so that you manage to use all of your classes before you leave.
If you are Indonesian, KITAS or are a student, there is also a discounted rate. For the Balinese, they allow a cash donation. For more information on prices, check the Yoga Barn’s price page on their website here.
Must-dos on the Yoga Barn Schedule Ubud:
The Yoga Barn is one of Ubud’s biggest wellness centres and hosts many classes every day, ranging from Yoga to meditation and even water therapy. The first classes start at 7am and the last classes/ events finish around 9pm. There is really something for everyone here!
Class sizes also vary. It is necessary to arrive a little before the class to register and secure your place. Some classes fill up quicker than others, so some you may have to arrive earlier whereas others you could rock up 5 minutes before the class and still be able to enter. Class registration opens 30 minutes before the class begins.

Below I am going to tell you about my top picks for classes on the Yoga Barn schedule Ubud.
Yoga:
Whether you are a beginner or a master yogi, there are classes here for everyone. There are more traditional classes such as Vinyasa, Yin and Hatha as well as more obscure ones such as Fly high Yoga and Acro Yoga.
Personally, I have tried a range of classes over my 4 months stay from the Yoga Barn schedule Ubud, and here are some of my favourites!
Tina Nance:
Any class run by Tina Nance will be a good one! I loved her classes, and went religiously a couple times a week to them. She specializes in Yoga for women’s health (sorry men), as well as Yoga and the meridians connected to Chinese Medicine (for both men and women). She is extremely knowledgeable, and you will come away from her classes not only feeling like you have done a good yoga session, but having also learnt something. Each week is different too, so if you go back week after week, you will not have to do the same routine each time.
Her main classes are: Yoga Therapy for Womb-en, Yoga Therapy, Yin Yoga Healing and Restorative and Yoga Nidra.
She also has a breathwork class too. See below for more details about this one.
Chris Fox:
Another very popular teacher on the Yoga Barn schedule Ubud. Chris’ classes always book out so if you want to try them, you must come to the reception early to register for the class. Otherwise, you may not get in. Chris’ focus is on movement and mobility. The best thing about his classes are that they are really fun and playful and Chris knows how to make everyone laugh.
Chris’ main classes are: Yintelligence, Movement is Medicine and Mobility Therapy.
Meditation:
While in Ubud, if you are wanting to learn or practice meditation, then check out these classes. If you are anything like me and find meditation difficult, you can sometimes be intimidated to enter a class where you think everyone will be great except you. What I have come to realise is, that everyone is on their own journey, and that the classes are organised in a way that is suitable and fantastic for all levels.
Meditation classes:
Heart Consciousness Meditation:
One of my favourite meditation classes on the Yoga Barn schedule Ubud is Kerry Clancey’s Sacred Heart Consciousness meditation. Kerry is a wonderful teacher, with a lot of wisdom and knowledge. As with a lot of the other classes here at the Yoga Barn, you come away not only having meditated, but also learning something new or gaining a new perspective about the world around you.
Kerry likes to work with cards as well, so usually at the beginning of class you must pick a card which will give you a message for the meditation. I found this very interesting and it gave me a focus.
At the end of class, she also likes to do a partner activity where you must stare into another person’s eyes. I know what you are thinking….WHAT! STARE INTO A RANDOM PERSON’S EYES?! The very first time I did this, I felt awkward too. However, it was actually very calming and by the end of the 2 minutes, my partner and I were chatting about all sorts of things and even went for lunch together in the Garden Kafe within the Yoga Barn. It is definitely a different experience, but one that you should try. Of course, if you really do not want to do that part, you are also given the choice to sit out, but it is something I recommend experiencing even if it is just once.
Nervous System Rewire:
Nervous System Rewire is a class by Tina Nance (one of my favourite Yoga Barn teachers). In this class, Tina gives breathing techniques and conscious movements to help calm the central nervous system. It is a fantastic class for anyone who is wanting to gain some skills to implement into their everyday lives.
Tibetan Bowls Meditation:
This Tibetan Bowls Meditation is during the day in the shala above the reception. It is also included in the class pass (not like the evening version). Agustian and his team of musicians play some wonderful music and guide you through a beautiful meditation. I highly recommend this meditation class if you enjoy music and sound meditations and want a break from the heat and noise of the day.
Special events:
On the Yoga Barn schedule Ubud, at the end of each day, there is a “special event” for the evening. These events are NOT included in the yoga packages and you must pay separately for them. However, I have found them to be typically more special than the normal classes and something that you remember for a long time afterwards.
Tibetan Bowls Sound Meditation:
On a Tuesday night from 7:15-8:15pm, there is a Tibetan Bowls Sound Meditation by Wakuha. It is NOT included in the card price as it is considered ‘a special event’ but it is well worth the price! It is usually upstairs in the shala above the reception and every time I have been it has been magical. The staff set up before you are allowed up. They decorate the shala very nicely, there is beautiful music, and the room is dark with lots of candles. When you are allowed up, you can find a yoga mat and cushion and lie down. Once the session starts, you can relax listening to Wakuha play the different bowls and you can truly relax.
Clarity Breathwork:
On the Yoga Barn schedule Ubud, Michele Hoops’ Clarity Breathwork is an extra workshop which is also not included in the class price. This one is not actually in the evening, but rather on a Thursday in the afternoon.
To be honest with you, when I signed up, I didn’t really know what I was getting myself in for. At the beginning, I kind of regretted signing up, as she made us dance around the room, to get our bodies moving. This was really not my thing. However, after when she started guiding us into the breathwork, it was very interesting and very rewarding.
After the 2 hours, I felt very relaxed and at peace with myself as during the session, different parts of my life had popped up and I had dealt with what was happening. It was a very strange experience for me, but actually very settling.
Ecstatic Dance:
This one I must mention. If you go to the Yoga Barn, you will hear people everywhere talking about ecstatic dance. It happens twice a week on a Friday evening and a Sunday afternoon. Personally, this is one event that I have never tried as it really isn’t my thing. However, I have heard from many people I have met that it is a lot of fun. If you would like more information about it, you can go to the Yoga Barn and ask directly at reception. Otherwise, there is a good chance if you hang out in the Garden Kafe (within the Yoga Barn) or go to yoga and speak to other people, it won’t be long until someone mentions it.
Wellness:
Within the Yoga Barn, there is also the possibility to have 1-1 consultations at the wellness centre. Here, you can have a personalised session with an expert. There are many different services available from counselling to colon therapy and the infrared sauna. Personally, I have tried two experiences in the wellness centre and was very happy with both of them.
Balinese Chakra healing:
When I saw this one on a leaflet, it caught my eye. I have always been interested in chakras and curious about how different cultures interpret them.
Wayan, the healer, took me into his office. We then did a small meditation at the beginning of the session. Straight after this mediation, he could tell which chakra was blocked and asked me if I had a problem with a particular area of my life. He was correct. He then gave me some advice to help balance this chakra.
After that, we moved over to the bed where I had to lie down. He then did a scan of my body and then started his healing practice. I felt more in a meditative state during this part.
At the end, he told me what he had discovered while he was doing his healing and we discussed how I could continue my healing outside and in my day-to-day life.
If you are interested in an experience like this, head to the wellness centre to find out more information. Otherwise, check out this page from their website which is all about Wayan.
1-1 Spiritual Heart Attunement and Cranio Sacral Therapy:
This session was with Kerry Clancey (the meditation teacher who I really enjoy going to). After going to many of her meditation classes, I wanted to experience a 1-1 session with her which could be more personalised to me.
She started off the session by getting me to pick some of her cards (like usual). We then discussed them a little bit. After this, we did a meditation sat down in the chair. A few things came up for me, so afterwards we discussed them and worked out some ways to deal with those issues.
Towards the end of the session, I lied on the bed and Kerry performed cranio sacral therapy on me. This felt very relaxing and it was an interesting experience. If you would like more information on Kerry and her service’s, check out this page.
I would highly recommend Kerry if you are delving deeper into your spirituality and would like some guidance with it. She has a lot of experience and I have never come out of a class without learning something or being inspired by her!
KUSH Spa:
The KUSH Spa Ubud is located inside the Yoga Barn. It is a spa where you must book in advance. It is not one of the spas like in town where you can just rock up and someone will be there waiting. They have a couple of different treatment rooms and can offer single or a couple’s treatment.
I have been to this spa many times as I feel you get a lot for your money, and it is high quality.
When you arrive, you are given a form to fill in. The form asks you about any specific medical conditions and if you have any particular focuses for the treatment. You can also pick the oil you would like to have for the treatment, and they will give you samples to smell. After this, your therapist will come and give you a footbath, a cold facecloth and a fresh drink. The fresh drink seems to differ on different days, sometimes it is a cold iced tea, other days Jamu or a juice. However, it is always fresh and delicious.
For the footbath, the therapist always explains what they are doing and adding (typically fresh ingredients such as sea salt, lemongrass and lime) and they tell you what each ingredient is good for.
After this, they will give you some slippers and walk you to your treatment room. The rooms are right next to the river, so you can hear the trickle of water during your treatment. There are shower facilities also available for after the massage. When the treatment finishes, you will also receive a farewell drink.
Bamboo Tension Release Massage:
If you are looking for a strong, deep tissue massage, then I highly recommend the Bamboo Tension Release Massage at KUSH Spa Ubud. The therapist will roll hot bamboo sticks over your body (ranging in size) to really work out those knots. Sometimes it is a little painful, but afterwards it feels fantastic.
I really struggle with holding tension in my upper back and shoulders and I found that this treatment really helps to reduce the tension and relieve pain.
Relaxing Abhyanga Massage:
If you are looking for a relaxing treatment to zen out and totally surrender, I would say the Abhyanga at KUSH Spa Ubud would be a good choice for you. The therapist pours warm medicinal oils over your body and uses soft strokes to relax you. This type of massage helps to remove energy blockages around the energy centres and kick-starts the whole body.
Ayurvedic facial massage:
The KUSH Spa Ubud’s facial is also one not to be missed! The spa uses all natural products that left my skin feeling refreshed and soft. Before the treatment, the therapist asked me about my skin, if I had particular problems etc so that she could choose the correct ingredients for my skin type. I have to admit, the facial massage that was part of the facial was the best facial massage I have ever had! It was amazing.
Shirodhara:
Shirodhara is an Ayurvedic therapy where hot oil is poured onto your third eye and over your hair and head. It relieves stress, migraines and anxiety. I really enjoyed this therapy as it was very relaxing. The therapist also gave you an upper body Abhyanga massage.
The only downside to this one is that afterwards you need to wash your hair many times to get all the oil out! I felt like I had to wash my hair for days to get it back to its normal condition!
The Garden Kafe:
If you are wanting a place to relax before or after yoga, or to just chill out and read a book, the Garden Kafe is a good choice. They have a lot of seating available and offer a range of healthy, delicious meals. I loved to have breakfast or lunch there.
They also have a small takeaway area where you can buy juices, fresh coconut water and energy balls, just opposite the main reception area.
So there we have it. I hope this guide has helped you plan your trip to the Yoga Barn, has given you some insight into what you can do there and how to make the most out of your time.
Unwind, stretch and indulge,
Love,
Namaste!
